We meet the second Monday of the month from 6:00-8:00pm at ONE Community Church 240 North Highway 90 Bypass Sierra Vista, AZ.
This month we will focus on Liability Concerns.
When talking about financial liabilities, we usually look at liabilities vs. assets. Like any other aspect of operations, church safety/security teams, regardless of their hearts and commitment, can be exposed to liability issues. One of the biggest assets any church has is its name reputation.
This course explores the potential organizational and individual liability related to safety ministry operations. Topics will include vicarious, premisses, supervision, training and other forms of liability. A variety of mitigation strategies will be explored.
Registration is available through the USCCA website at https://checkout.training.usconcealedcarry.com/register/class-tucson-az-concealed-carry-home-defense-fundamentals-certified-instructor-a9f31/eed247a4-3aeb-11ee-bc20-e62b150bf716?oid=99c795b2-1f22-11f0-8724-beaefa7a66cb&_gl=1*v0n257*_gcl_aw*R0NMLjE3NDU2OTkzOTYuQ2owS0NRandpTExBQmhDRUFSSXNBSllTNnVteGNjZWl5TGNMeEFuWUl6a2Vqbm50ZlRkNkJtSkc4T19fR01SU3NyTThFdGNtSFNOd0NSb2FBcXpzRUFMd193Y0I.*_gcl_au*MTYzNzM4NjIxMS4xNzM5NzQxODYx*_ga*NjYzMDk0NzkwLjE3Mzk3NDE4NjE.*_ga_MFZ3H4HBX9*MTc0NTY5OTM5Ni40LjEuMTc0NTY5OTc5NS41MC4wLjA.
This course will be presented by experts in the fields of law enforcement and an attorney who has practiced as a prosecutor and defense attourney.
The course examines shooting investigations: what investigators are looking for and how your interaction with them can move you from being a suspect in a shooting to being the victim in an illegal attack. Stripped of the legalese, what makes the difference between an act of violence and the moral and ethical compulsion to act to protect innocents? How can one deal with 911, responding officers and follow up detectives so as to paint a true picture of the dynamics in play? Presented by two veteran officers from major urban areas, who have used and investigated the use of deadly force, the material here has been pressure tested in the real world and has proved effective.
Please bring a lunch to the course as we will be working through lunch.
Tactical Decision Making merely refers to decisions made for short-time span goals. This course focuses on those decisions made under time constraints, where discretionary time is not available. The focus is on the high-risk/criticality/liability, low-frequency events that are typified by the use of force.
Participants will review use-of-force concepts, observe videos of previous incidents, learn to avoid the traps of poor decision making, apply the priorities of life, and make appropriate decisions based on the situation presented.
This course includes the use of video simulation and live action roleplaying in a variety of incidents.
Join us for our monthly AZCSN Lunch and Learn. This event is open to all church leadership and safety / security team members.
Our Emergency First Medical Fundamentals class teaches you basic first aid and lifesaving techniques to be used in the event of a medical emergency.
You will learn how to properly assess a patient and how to deal with significant issues such as compromised airway, broken bones, burns, heart attacks, seizures, strokes, and more. This course also includes CPR and AED use.
Realistic De-Escalation thoroughly dissects the complex concept of “de-escalation” and the many elements in determining its feasibility or effectiveness in a variety of encounter types. This deeper knowledge of de-escalation is valuable to both security officers and supervisors called in to review force events after the fact. All these parties will need to determine to what extent using de-escalation techniques is feasible in specific high-pressure and rapidly unfolding encounters.
Participants in the course will learn concepts and methods that support de-escalation efforts when personal connections can be made between officers and subjects. These attendees will be given knowledge regarding ways to help people in a state of mental health crisis, or whose perception of reality is altered. Officers will be able to better manage human beings with better skills around establishing contact, building rapport and gaining influence to achieve police objectives.
This six-hour course is designed to educate the public on how they can mitigate the loss of life if they find themselves in a violent intruder incident. The goal of I LIVED training is for participants to recognize the need for immediate response to these types of incidents, recognize ways they may intervene, and empower them to make a difference in the event.

AZCSN meets the first Monday of the month at Reveal Vineyard in Surprise. Our monthly meetings include an opportunity to meet and fellowship with other safety and security ministry volunteers, a training session on a different topic each month, and time to share updates and questions about church safety.
This month we will focus mandatory reporting.
Arizona law requires certain people, including Sunday School teachers and others working with children and youth in the church, regardless of whether they are financially compensated, to report suspected abuse (ARS §13-3620.A). You may be a child’s only advocate at the time you report the possibility of abuse or neglect. Children often tell a person with whom they feel safe about abuse or neglect.
Learn about the requirements for mandatory reporting. The protection given to reporters through Arizona State Law and the importance of following through with the reporting process.
